Beschreibung
A solo classical guitar piece composed by Honduras-born Carlos Barrientos (b.1954) inspired by the most American of musical styles, the blues. Periwinkle Memories, a lightly swinging piece marked by delicate changes in tempo and touch. In explaining the name of the piece, the composer says, "I was struck by the purplish-hue of the periwinkle, some consider it an invasive weed, most admire its extra ordinary beauty - it is a vibrant part of the American landscape, elegant, stubborn, and nearly native. Like the blues." For the advanced player.
