This is a new work for solo marimba that premiered at the Yoshioka Takaetsu New Year's Marimba Concert in January 2003. It is a work written in response to the request for simple, quaint and good music that can be played in two mallets. The title is in European Kaleidoscope No.2, which is given in response to the image of a kaleidoscope. The work consists of 10 pieces, and each piece has a short playing time, about 13 minutes even if the whole piece is played continuously. The last two movements are played as the final movement, but the 18th piece can be played freely and the tempo may be slower than specified.
