The English Suite op. 31 is John Duarte’s best-known and most frequently performed work. Dedicated to Andrés Segovia and Emilia Magdalena Corral Sancho (known as Emilita) on the occasion of their marriage in 1962, this suite contains three mouvements (Prelude, Folk Song and Round Dance) and each one has two themes: one derived from English folklore and the other an original composition. The present edition is based on the text published in 1967 by the London publisher Novello. Here, we offer an updated layout as well as corrections of a few minor oversights found in the original edition. Preface in Italian and English by Frédéric Zigante.
