Tempus passent for four trombones and piano, dedicated to the Slokar Quartet, explores the colors and perceptions of the passing of time. Structured in three contrasting movements, the work offers a musical reflection on memory, the present moment, and the future. The first movement, Yesterday, evokes nostalgic colors: youth, carefree moments, and memories tinged with a sense of regret, all unfolding in a reflective atmosphere. The second movement, Today, is brighter and more aggressive in character. The seconds seem to rush by, illustrating how difficult it is to grasp and hold on to the present moment. The final movement, Tomorrow, opens a window toward the unknown. It represents a break from the present, with more undefined and suggestive colors directed toward the future an outlook shaped by both hope and doubt.
