The pieces in this collection are intended for more advanced music students – I hope they will provide an interesting challenge! The eight-piece cycle entitled My Themes includes two-, three-, and four-minute compositions for trumpet and piano. Each piece also has its own title. In writing this cycle, I used musical themes that had previously appeared in my compositions for various instrumental ensembles – now I've adapted them to the capabilities of the trumpet and piano and to a level of difficulty appropriate for young people. Some themes are fresh in the sense that they are still awaiting their symphonic versions, for example, although they've been in my head for a long time, even since childhood – for example, I came up with the melody for "Bunny Pio" when I was six. Hanna Kulenty The pieces in this collection are characterized by considerable complexity, both technically and interpretatively. Due to their musical intensity, richness of expressive means, and high demands on the performer, this repertoire is best suited for students in their late school years, around 12–15 years of age. These compositions are suitable for particularly gifted students graduating from primary music school or beginning secondary school.
