Finnish music has had no shortage of women composers. Although many of them had their works published and otherwise created a successful career in music, they are virtually nowhere to be found in later histories of Finnish music. The 22 solo songs in the present anthology present a cross-section of an extensive, diverse and fascinating area of musical culture in which solo songs and woman composers flourished, in Finland and elsewhere. Foreword, work commentaries and critical commentary are included in English.
