Recorded in 1998 by the Monday Night Big Band on their Thanks To Thad album, this is Part 1 of Thad's larger Return Journey Suite. Solo requirements are limited to an optional repeat that may (or may not) be taken for a piano solo. This means that this outing relies on solid section and ensemble work throughout. A full brass pyramid that builds from the bottom up before the final chord is a special highlight. Standard jazz ensemble plus opt. 5th Trumpet; alto & tenor saxes have opt. flute or soprano sax doubles.
